I instantly recognized Richards Farnham's name and photograph in the obituary in the Palisadian Post and join his family in mourning his passing. I was a student at Palisades High during the 1970's and he was one of my more memorable teachers there. I was absolutely fascinated at his somewhat unusual first name, although to his students he was "Dick" not "Richards". His students became his fans, at least I did. I was the type of student that initially found science classes to be quite dull and somewhat overwhelming. But not with Dick Farnham at the controls! His passion for his work was quite inspiring and, surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes, there was never a dull moment in his Biology class! While his family mourns Richards' death, I hope that fond remembrances such as mine (and scores of other former students as well) honor his memory, his dedication, and his commitment to teaching.
